RAF Lossiemouth - Some Different Angles

Post by DJ17 » Thu Aug 23, 2018 8:17 pm

Trip up from Prestwick to Easter Airfield (part of the old RAF Fearn/RNAS Fearn/HMS Owl) via a small strip adjacent to the RAF Station at Lossiemouth -

Nice line up of Dobbins Hercs on departure from Prestwick -

Lossie overhead, note the USN P-8A Poseidon and the new apron construction -

Another nice USAF visitor on our return to Prestwick was this March C-17 -

Very nice aerial shots, particularly of USAF Prestwick and USN Lossie! Presumably you landed at Shempston, but what were you travelling in?

Interesting shots particularly the ones of Lossie. Are the groundwork’s really for a new apron, just that that part of the base is considerably higher ground than the existing aprons runways and would require either a lot of ground to be removed or a pretty steep inclined taxiway. Exciting times ahead for Lossie indeed.

Cheers Dougie, always Interesting to see the various RAF Stations whether open or closed from the air.

Nice set of photos, interesting angles right enough. It was a certainly a memorable trip for perhaps all the wrong reasons, although I do like a happy ending.

I think that's where the new hangar is being built.
