Prestwick Mon 5th Dec

Post by toom317 » Tue Dec 06, 2022 2:09 pm

Went over to Prestwick yesterday to get the Canadian Hornets departing. The runway was closed till 12.00 for maintenance so I could leave a bit later from home to get there. After the last hornet took off I looked at my watch and it was 12.05. They must have been desperate to get away.

Nice bit of timing with the last Hornet coming down the taxiway as the Polaris was back tracking on the runway.

The take offs with the tanker leading.

A couple of other Canadians that were present at the time.

I don't fancy this guys job. :O

And a couple of other C17's that were here

Later in the day a 25 Sqn Hawk flew through and a Navy Merlin was pulled out and took off to the East but the light was gack by then.

As long as they remembered to let him get down !!!!
Its gonna rain, its gonna rain till the levee breaks, a tidal wave of fear and pain washes us away, another fight into the night until nothing else remains, how do we find harbour from the Hurricane?

To put your mind at ease John, the pic of the Canadian C17 was taken some time later. Looking at it though, I can't see where that safety harness is connected to the airframe. It must be a sphincter tightening moment getting from the hatch to the anchor point.

And you Mike. You didn't miss anything else. I stayed till 3 when the light went, in the hope of getting the Merlin, but it spent most of it's time blocked by the Alaska C17 and took off to the East, over where that big car park used to be.

"I don't fancy this job" aka "come back in mate, it's not worth it!"

The tanker and hornet together is the one for me. Cracking shot.
