Kinetic 1:48 F-104ASA-M

Post by jonf45 » Sun Apr 30, 2023 9:23 am

Hi,

I grabbed a Kinetic F-104G kit a while back and decided to do it as the later ASA-M version in all over grey. The kit went together really well with very little filling needed anywhere other than around the engines.

Sadly, the decals, or lack thereof, really let it down.

They recommend using Mr Color 306, but this looked too dark so i lightened it...... a lot!! However, this still isnt light enough if you want to see their decals through it!!! There are no stencil decals, only a handful of body decals (1 roundel on the underside is all you get!), no pitot tube decal (or even instruction of how it should be painted), and nothing for the stores etc. I tried to get hold of some Tauro or Armycast but after not being able to find any available in the UK for about a month i gave up as it was getting in the way!!

Ill pick some up hopefully next some time soon and have a proper go
It ended up being more weathered than i was going to do just to make a few features stand out a bit.

Finished as MM6930/9-53 of 9 Stormo, Grazzanise airbrushed using Mr Color Acryllic paints and Mig Ammo washes

Anyway, heres a few pics

Very, very realistic, just the right amount of weathering and panel details. Well done.
