REQ Yeovilton - 7 March 2019
Can anyone provide the serials for the 2 visiting chinooks that visited around 1pm yesterday, Thursday.
Also a long shot the 2 Wildcats sat outside nose on to the Church end. Many thanks John

2x Chinooks parked up near the Merlin apron also seen on Friday morning - possibly the same pair? (Serials u/k but both with Union flag on rear pylon)
Re: REQ Yeovilton - 7 March 2019
Hi John
As promised the two Chinooks I scoped off were:
ZH893
ZH904
I "think" 893 was on the ramp whilst 904 was tucked between the two hangars but visible from the steps of the Museum.

I know it's dated but was at Yeovilton on the 7th for the Cobham Hall visits, I'm 99.99% sure it was ZH893 that was near the hangars and wore covers.

BAPC.088 102/17 Fokker DR1
15-1585 Yokosuka Ohka
No sign of G-BGWZ unless this is a black frame stored on the racking?
Didn’t realise anything was in external storage so can’t confirm if XE340 / 131 Hawker Sea Hawk is still present or not.
Haven’t been able to find any signs of XN332 / 759 Saro P531 or XT427 / 606 Westland Wasp in any of my photo’s, but that doesn’t mean they’re not there!
Have checked the ‘backgrounds’ of my photo’s but can’t find either XS574 Northrop Shelduck or XW994 Chukar which were stored on the racking at one time.
I haven’t been able to find (fudge / conjure / make-up) any identities on the following –
Black frame stored on the racking (far LHS)
Cockpit section stored opposite to entrance (LHS)
Gazelle tail section ex AAC coded ‘X’ opposite entrance.
Hope of interest.

Re: REQ Yeovilton - 7 March 2019
'Navy' titled AW.159 was likely ZZ549 from Yeovil.

Whilst ZZ549 was reported as seen at the western end circa 16:00. I noted ZZ550 as having been airborne around midday. This is more likely to have been the Navy wildcat seen at 11:56. Cheers Jobn

Re: REQ Yeovilton - 7 March 2019
Steve thanks for your log of 7 March. With regard to (ZZ513??) Why did you think this? Only 513 was reported at Yeovil the following day. This is a test machine and did have an orange probe fitted when last reported in 2018. Look forward to any comment as to where you read this from or if the serial was given to you. Cheers John

Re: REQ Yeovilton - 7 March 2019
ZZ513, was photographed from both north and south-sides, I have already deleted the front view but back one after zooming / fudging and general wishful thinking I can still only come up with '513' possibly. Sorry can't help any further.
Regarding the Philippine Wildcat (ZZ549 / 550), the last number does appear more 0 than 9 so thanks for the help on this one.

Steve Can you see if Army or Navy titles are displayed? Assume the serial is in black not white. Thanks John

Re: REQ Yeovilton - 7 March 2019
Thanks Bob for your comments. I would agree it was unlikely to be 513 given where it was parked. Also I believe it was not a HMA2 version, serial should be in white? If it was marked as Army/Marine it may have been ZZ512; if photo could be seen. Cheers John

John,
I've just read the 'post a photo' directions, unfortunately it doesn't help (me) at all, sorry. Can I forwards as an email to you direct? I've played around a bit with the image and I think it's still 513 (registration is in black) but I can't see any other markings.
Regards,
Steve

Sorry for the late posting but only just joined up and got approval.
The Philippine's Wildcat I can confirm as ZZ550 which made a flyby down the main runway.
Regards Paul.

Re: REQ Yeovilton - 7 March 2019
Chinooks noted today (7th March)were ZH893 tucked between the two hangars but visible from the steps of the Museum, ZH904 was on the ramp and flew, The third example was ZK551 which came in and 'Hot' refuelled before leaving again.
Regards Paul.
