Still basically totally fine with Windows Update (when run from an SSD!) - but the lowest spec PC here (a circa 2012 nettop with a very low power AMD "E" series dual core processor, but an SSD!) got the updates this morning. Everything worked until I got a message that some updates could not installed and then it rolled those back to the previous installation! Tried again - same result! Each "update" process took about 2hrs from start to finish.
OTOH, one update DID install successfully at the first attempt!
So then I investigated further by separately checking out each failed update (not difficult, but time-consuming!) - turned out that 5 (out of the 6 listed) were NOT applicable to this little m/c! So, my "beef" was/is that W Update should not try to install updates that don't apply to a particular m/c!
PS: I should probably add that all the m/c's (except one - which is not that nettop - on which I write this post) are connected to the router by cabled Gb Ethernet - and that probably helps, but the sole Wifi-connected unit doesn't seem to be that much slower to update.
