Hi Ladies and Gents

Seeing as there is no RIAT this weekend, and what a scorcher it would have been, I thought I would delve back in time and post some shots from an old one - came up with 1991 - 30 years ago (was going to do 1989 but then found I had already done). Alot of the aircraft there were back from the Gulf and still displayed some markings and it was a Tiger Meet as well

Thank you for sharing these, it was a great show as I recall. Apart from the Tiger Meet, plenty of Gulf War participants. I wished I'd done the IL18 pleasure flight though.

As touched on earlier, this was the first RIAT with former Eastern Bloc participation when the Czechs turned up. Having been to a show in Czechoslovakia the previous year, to see pairs of L39s and Mig 29s in the flying display, with a Mig 23, AN12 and Tu134 in the static display was the start of what became the norm. As I had the week following RIAT off work, it gave me the chance to visit the shows at Chivenor and Brawdy, which the Czechs also attended. I was at Chivenor for arrivals day and the Mig 23 announced its arrival by performing a low level run across the base on full afterburner, spectacular for those of us there to witness it. Also worth noting that this was the first RIAT that the Turkish AF attended, with an F-104G and TF-104G. Looking at the logbook for that show, I'd say that was probably when the event reached its peak, weren't we lucky to witness it.

It was a brilliant show particularly with the Tiger meet.
Got there on the Thursday early afternoon so ready for arrivals Friday.
Interesting that the sister machine to the EP3E at the show 157325 was still flying from Souda recently

It was my first IAT as well Stellaproblem, unfortuately I've only been to one other and that was 1993.

Wonderful shots Darren full of eye candy. Varks, an immaculate EP-3E, Skywarrior, A-7s (there were some PA ANG jets there too) and stacks of special schemes (despite it being grey the Canadian Tiger Hornet is probably my favourite). A brilliant show!
