Five a day - Part 81

The last F104 Friday today. This time from the biggest user of the era, the West German Air Force who, combined with the WGN, had a combined total procurement of 917. Quite frequent visitors to Lossie although they were already being phased out by the time I had a camera, starting to be replaced by variants of the F4.

Between the F-104s, G-91s and F-4s the was a spell at Lossie when almost every day of the week saw something from the German AF or navy drop into Lossie. Great memories.

Great stuff, to think that 917 of a single type in service with a single country is way beyond comparison today. Sadly most movements back then went by without being documented through photography, as you would’ve needed a Kodak artic lorry full of film.

Alpha Jets, Sky Servants and the 3 Canberra’s were from memory daily/weekly visitors as well.
