Log from a quiet Cologne 19/05/23

Having not been to Cologne Airport since 2017 I decided a day out was long overdue so, with cheap (£36.92) Ryanair flights booked and hotel sorted, I flew out of Stansted on Thursday afternoon. The Moxy Hotel, situated near the multi-story carpark, was relatively good value at £104 for the night. For anyone thinking of staying there reception is on the 5th floor, along with a roof-top terrace which gives good views towards the military ramp.

Unfortunately, I chose the date of a G7 meeting in Japan, meaning one of the new Airbus A-350 was away. Below is a log of what was visible on the military ramps on Friday 19th:-

T-054 MRTT (non mover, partly inside hangar)

15+02 Airbus A319 (arrived from Washington at 22:55)

The only other military movement noted was F-RBAT Airbus A400 OTT heading northeast towards Rovaniemi, Finland in the morning and going back southwest to Orléans in the evening.

A very quiet day, but that's military spotting
