RAF Wattisham 12-4-92

A visit to Wattisham to photograph the stored Phantoms in hangars and then onto the dump to see the remainder being broken up.

Firstly the 2 gateguards, XV420 was painted in markings of 56 & 74 Sqn

Thanks for sharing these, I visited a few times and it was sad to see the turnover of Phantoms in the scrapping area. At least a few escaped the chop and are displayed at various locations around the country.

Had the pleasure of seating some Vintage Car Club ladies in the hangared Phantom and talking them around the cockpit on an evening 'special' six weeks ago. I really enjoyed that!!. :)
