AFS Yelahanka and Aero-India 2025

Post by TonyO » Mon Feb 24, 2025 11:08 pm

Some snaps of the various support flights which supported this year's Aero-India Airshow here at the beginning of February. Yelahanka is usually home to a An-32, Dornier 228 and Mi-17 training unit, but every couple of years it gets transformed into a showcase for India's aerospace industry and those companies attempting to sell into it. This was my first ever Aero-India, and it was fascinating to cover and understand the various indigenous programs already underway here, and taking some snaps in between. Rather than showcase the airshow participants, I thought it would be more interesting to see some of the IAF activity before and during the show, with the numerous comings and goings bringing in visitors from other bases. Sadly only one Jaguar on the ground, and five in a rather hazy flypast that also shut down the main international airport nearby. There were Avro 748s, unfortunately I know I missed at least two arriving and departing whilst working away in the hangars.

Hope this is of interest?

And then a taster of what we should have had at Waddington this time three years ago...Tejas, such a cool little fighter jet.

support aircraft are always much more interesting than the "show" participants -- nice

I have always been fascinated by India, not just military but culture, railways, food etc. however it is somewhere I am yet to travel to. I would love to see some of these types up close, especially the Jaguar and old Mig-21 (and the Sea Harrier before retirement), but for now I am content in looking at this post. I wonder if the Tejas or Rafale will finally turn up here in the U.K. one day.

I really enjoyed this selection, thanks Tony.

Excellent. It’s been a few years since my last Aero India event. It was always a great opportunity to see a large number of Indian types, particularly when they had the opening fly past :).

Lovely to see something a bit different. Nicely shot and processed. That southern humid light isn't your friend.
And another thumbs up for the Tejas. Two sticker better looking in my eyes.

Lovely set Tony, great variety and good to see a set of subjects different to those we usually see.

Cheers, Tom
