Re: 48 hours for Libyan Freedom ??
BBC just reported RAF jets have taken off, only an hour late i thought this was live news!
Re: 48 hours for Libyan Freedom ??
To be fair, Sky News were reporting at Prestwick earlier....they mentioned the Canadians arrived last night, but they didnt say they had departed until a few hours later.bordercontrol wrote:BBC can't report which base nor how many have left. Seems a bit off to me
Re: 48 hours for Libyan Freedom ??
i think they are trying to do the right thing but.... with several websites like this its pointless to hold up the news of movements cos if you really wanted to know it wouldnt be hard to find it

News crews wont give out exact timings as it only takes a ground commander of a AAA battery a few brain cells to work out when he can expect some action, if he knows exactly when something left somewhere, then using the old "distance - speed - rough route" equation you can gain a rough idea when they may be overhead. Hence news bods delay stuff like that.

Re: 48 hours for Libyan Freedom ??
Not necessarily. Take Allied Force during 1999 for example at Fairford. Live launches were reported of heavy bombers. There was nothing that the authorities or forces could do about it. The planners knew that the Yugoslavs would be watching and incorporated route changes and timings in order to outfox enemy defences. The same happened with media reporting in Italy during Allied Force. Enthusiasts and media were reporting live launches and activity during the campaign. That included the F-117s out of Aviano.garyscott wrote:News crews wont give out exact timings as it only takes a ground commander of a AAA battery a few brain cells to work out when he can expect some action, if he knows exactly when something left somewhere, then using the old "distance - speed - rough route" equation you can gain a rough idea when they may be overhead.
