This is something the L-29 is very capable of (Very, very slow flight, about 60kts I think!), and I think the East Germans used to do it quite often in training exercises to teach pilots what an approach with no gear is like.

I stand to be corrected, however!

I disagree Jem. I've seen other video on youtube of a similar 'stunt' so I'm inclined to say it's a deliberate piece of low flying.


Actually thinking about it, it was probably the same aircraft but from another angle. However I still think it was showmanship rather than a near wheels up.

At Oshkosh a few years ago, I used to see an act called Masters of Disaster. Very spectacular, with Jimmy Leroy, Jimmy Franklin, and Bobby Younkin. Excellent very experienced pilots,all three of them. It always worried me. Where are they now? They are all dead. I rest my case.
In this country, this flying would not be allowed. Now surely it is not beyond you to understand why that would be the case?
