Received another email from the Turkish AF this evening:

"IMPORTANT NOTE FOR SPOTTERS

Spotters accepted for Spotters Program should take IZMIR Cumaovası-Aliağa Rail System and get off the train at ULUKENT Rail Station on Friday 3rd and Monday 6th,

On 03rd and 06th June, free shuttle busses will be available;

- From ULUKENT Rail Station to South Spectator Car Parking between 07.00-08.15 L.

- From South Spectator Car Parking to ULUKENT Rail Station between 14.30-15.30 L."

Really hope this ash cloud does one, and pretty quick! :unsure:

Incidently, according to the Airshow website, some spotters are already there! They have even posted a photo of the spotters http://www.hvkk.tsk.tr/turkiyehavagoste ... cerikID=16" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; :lol:

This a dirty log I have done for the other chaps who came on the trip with me so ignore any comments to them as I have just copied and pasted it, but it gives a good idea what was seen here and around Turkey :)

Right im not going to popular but tough this needs to be said. Are all number crunchers so darn selfish? The Turkish Air Force were kind enough to put on an event for international guests, and all they asked was not to hang round other bases. Our tour of idiots insited on doing just that at the expense of a full day at the show on saturday (not what I paid for)

We had our registration plate written down numerous times, due to the arrogance of our group who thought 4 x people carriers parked on dirt tracks next to bases was discreet. We got pounced on by airport security and told to be on our way, so they moved a little further back and still got the scopes out.

This post on Scramble sums it up perfectly:

"The previous day I read the C-160 off as 028 but confirmation would be appreciated as our activities were cut short when a van load of police arrived."

these so called "enthusiasts" are exactly the same people that give the majority of us a bad name abroad. My thanks to the Turkish Air Force for their excellent organisation and event, just a shame so many seemed to take the :grr: out of their hospitatlity....

As I "number cruncher" as you call it ( :@ ) - I fully agree with your comments, it's not difficult to go where you should be and get what you can get from there, thus not spoiling it for everyone else!

(PS. How was the camera? :P)

Ironically, I planned to go to the Greek open house days with them later this year, but after this farce I won't bother. How a tour group can change the itinery 6 hours before the airshow and not expect people to be :grr: off is beyond me.

Chris, my camera coped a lot better in the heat than I did! :lol:
