Post by nds » Wed Jun 15, 2011 3:04 pm

Hi all,
just wondered if it was worth visiting before it closes ? Are there any days better than others ?

Thanks Neal

I will put it stright to you Neal it is Realy quite up there now. They are starting to run down staff very quickly such as ATC etc , However it is still very hit and miss at Lyneham. The weekdays are the best time to go at the moment but everyday there are less and less movement at Lyneham. :'(

ive read in another area of the forum that there are only 3 hercules at brize norton at the moment.
If you was to go in the week then the activity should be at its highest for this period of time.I would leave a monday or a friday,as they can be slow days also.
good luck

Hope to visit tomorrow if weather fit, i was told by ATC when i rang a couple of weeks ago that if there is a repatriation due at the base, there is not much flying, is that true?

Thanks

yes mate, although thats only between the embargo times.. if the repat is at midday, then usually there is no flying from half 10 til about 3.. depending on how long the familys stay on camp, sometimes they like to have a look around the C-17 etc.
