Newark Air Museum’s Object of the Week may interest some of you patch collectors - it’s a Royal Flush Patch from 1962!

After I brought the two patches that Dan posted on the previous page, I got onboard the IL76 (Which was just awesome!) and was kindly given these two patches that one of the Ukrainian pilots had in his pocket... The official crew patch for 831 and a 25th anniversary patch of the Candid, thank you very much sir!

I got quite a few at RIAT this year, it would seem that alot of crews are cashing in on the Americans ideas... Not complaining though, there were some nice ones there! Have to post my little selection at some point

Daniel,

Couple of questions  Did you have to ask the Osprey crew for the patch or were they selling somewhere? Walked passed them several times they didn't have a table and always had loads of people queuing to go through the Osprey or chat to the crew.

Also what time did you get to the B-2 crew to get the patch? I got down there Saturday morning around 10am and they appeared to havealready sold out :( (Went down the heavies end first  )

Bought a few a RIAT

Also got 5 challenge coins  JG71, 67th SOS, Eucom's Air Commandos, VQ-4 and 93rd BS. Will uploaded them a bit later.

Rather jealous of the colour Phantom R patch! They weren't selling any at Waddo and they'd all gone when I got to them at RIAT! :(

There's a few patches in that selection that I also had to buy aha!

On that note... What does the R actually signify? I've never found out

R is for Richthofen as in The Red Baron
On 21 April 1961, the 43rd anniversary of the death of “Red Baron” Rittmeister Manfred Von Richthofen, JG 71 was given the honorary title of “Richthofen” by Federal President Heinrich Lübke. In 1961, JG 71 transferred from Ahlhorn to Wittmund.
Info from JG 71 Wikipedia page

If anyone got the patch below from the show and are looking to sell it let me know  I didn't get it when I had the chance and when I went back for the final time the Phantom crew wasn't about :(

Also thanks for the info Daniel, knew I should have gone down to the B-2 first
