This is gearing up to be the best Leuchars airshow in a long time still 2 months to go and the line up's are simply fantastic.

Can you point me to where it says 558 won't be attending on the Vulcan website please?

Think Tomcat based this on the fact in details of 2011 appearances Leuchars is not mentioned.

They only show the confirmed bookings though, and even if it's looking unlikely atm it doesn't mean it definitely wont be there.

Edit - No mention of the Vulcan on the Leuchars Airshow website. Was it's "appearance" based on rumour or it being mentioned as a visitor (awaiting confirmation)?

Judging by the press story that has been linked elsewhere recently - both TVOC and Leuchars would like the aircraft to be there:

"From our point of view, we're desperate to bring the aircraft, we're all singing from the same songsheet on that, and behind the scenes I'm sure everybody will do everything they can."

It's a question of funding. TVOC can't afford to display at a loss, and nor should it, and Leuchars probably doesn't have the 15K required.

No one, as far as I can see, is bleating about not being being booked or invited.

It would of course be a great shame if she weren't to appear at what may be the last Leuchars show but if they can't afford her and can't find the money that's probably the end if it. A sponsor may come forward between now and the show and it seems to me it needs that for it happen and then everyone will be happy.

Yeah would be nice if she is there.

Will this be the last Leuchars Airshow, or will there be one next year? If I remember right Leuchars closes as an RAF base in 2013, so will still be an RAF base in 12 months. Though think this will be the last personally as I am sure there will be more important things to do than put on an airshow in the last few months.Just wondered if it had been confirmed 100% that 2011 will be the last.

From what I have heard this will be the last airshow that Leuchars host as after this show they need to start moving QRA and everything else linked with the typhoons to lossie.That of course could take anywhere from 12 to 18 months so I doubt there would be anytime left to organise an airshow for 2012.

I think it will be a pit if the Vulcan does not make the show after all the show is being billed as a show that will present the past , present and future surely the Vulcan is a major part of the past RAF history.

Although everything will now come down to funds and I do not expect much else to be added to the line up perhaps a few GR-4s and typhoons to beef up the static line but that will be about it.

Received a e-mail from the airshow team earlier today.Inside it say's that the airshow IS going ahead as planned this year and there will be a major update on the show website some point this week.

Fingers crossed for that something special.
