A Spot of Priming Advice....

Post by SteveS » Fri Oct 07, 2011 6:37 pm

Well, I've sold my stash (mainly to Mark G!) and am working on my last model, a 1/72 Hawk. Doing it straight out the box in Reds colours, but my question is this;

Given the plastic is moulded red, and it'll be painted red, is there any point priming it grey before the red coats?

I would say yes. As you may already know, sometimes the oils that are used in the production of the mould can sometimes still be present on the plastic. A quick clean and a layer of primer would reduce the risk of any flaws showing up. Thats my 2 pence worth anyway. ;)

Would you recommend just the one coat of primer?

Agree totally with TC! I primed mine for the simple reason of the moulded plastic was marked :thumb:
