Farnborough Air Show
Farnborough Air Show
Hi All
I'm planning which airshows I want to go to this year, and looking at Farnborough as I've not been before.
What are the photographic opportunities like? I was thinking of going on the Friday, is it less busy?
Also is the Enthusiasts Grandstand worth it - I'm sure I read somewhere that its a long way back from the runway??
Thanks!

Re: Farnborough Air Show
The Friday is the busiest day of the working week and has been getting busier since it was made more accessible. There's no real advantage photographically to the day apart from there being much less litter around the aircraft, particularly later in the day though you may manage to capture some of the aircraft that depart before the public days.
The Grandstand is a fair way back from the crowdline barriers although much closer to the display centre than the main exhibition area. The Friday will feature a longer flying display than the other 'trade days' as many of the public display items are included into the display and sometimes there's some last minute validation displays on Friday evening for anything appearing over the weekend that's been unable to make it in the previous two weeks.

Re: Farnborough Air Show
That would make an interesting what if.. might have to look some more into that.
BAck onto topic though, good to see BB pushing the boat out with this, as its clearly a very capable platform. Would suit our SAR requirements quite well.

Re: Farnborough Air Show
The FIA Press day today has confirmed some items that will be on show - C-130J, Yak130, KAI T-50 and Gripen. Full size model of Spaceship 2 in static display, F/A-18, F-16, and V-22 Osprey.
They have also confirmed that the aircraft not staying the whole week must depart by Thursday, and that the Halls will not be open to the public this year. now, correct me if I'm wrong but the Friday "enthusiasts day", probably wont have that much pulling power, because if the exhibitors are starting to depart Thursday, they wont have much reason to man their stands on Friday, and half the weekends display items wont have arrived!

sorry!

Re: Farnborough Air Show
Halls will be open as normal on Friday, only Sat+Sun closed
Replacement aircraft have been booked to fill the gaps in static, flying display slightly longer on Friday and 5 hours on Sat and Sun
Did I miss you today?

Thought I was out of a job then

Re: Farnborough Air Show
Always go to Farnborough, but prices seem to have rocketed this year. £41 if paying on the day.
