Yea, I got a "very naughty boy" telling off on this forum for daring to "ask" what the ETA of the B2 was, & could jepordise the whole event accordingly,
but it's just fine to publish frequencies, headings, tracking info, sightings etc, as far away as off the coast of IRELAND yesterday............hilarious.

B2 will depart Monday but NOT back to the states, will stop over elsewhere and fly stateside Tuesday according to the pilot.

Although QUID 80/81 departed Mildenhall early hours Sunday morning, were noted on PP/SBS still up at around 15.00/16.00 some place out down the south west and have still not returned to Mildenhall, could this be DEATH 11's tanker support to where ever its departing to later.

ATCManch wrote:Well this has been an interesting read; and very funny in places - I was working all weekend and unable to participate in anything aviation wise really

So, lets talk about its "stealthy" arrival into the UK and that it was undetectable by radar - rubbish. I watched it come in at work from way off Lands End. It had primary as well as secondary returns

It came over the ocean via Santa Maria, hence nothing with Shanwick till later, it filed an airborne flight plan (by Santa Maria) at some stage which I think was due to a reroute whilst in the air to avoid weather. I believe it was originally going to come in via French Airspace but didn't

It doesn't need escorts to be detectable on radar. I don't know what they use to show as primary returns, but they all have transponders for secondary. I expect there's something that deploys out of the airframe to assist with showing as a primary, and I would think it would have an electronic emmiter of some sort - the F117s had little blocks which were added manually to the side of the airframes which did the same thing. These could be switched on and off from the cockpit if required. Obviously, during real missions these were removed.

As for the statement about the USAF not sending a B2 if there was too much publicity?? Total rubbish. If they felt this way it would have just turned up without the announcement (which would have been impossible anyway)

Cheers

Tony
With regards to the F-117 they do similar with the F-22, by placing a bolt onto the bottom of the air frame, which can be seen here:

Didn't take a close look, but I imagine the B-2 has a similar gadget.

2e1var - I believe it will be flying direct to Whiteman today.

A pilot of this particular aircraft is hardly going to tell the public something he is likely to be disciplined for saying, you will never get the full story when you ask them questions like that as they are not allowed to tell it. Operational security is part of their basic training.

For the tankers I think he can easily make it home from Fairford to Whiteman without them, unless the 100ARW need some more practice of course

The Pilot does'nt know. I was at Fairford yesterday and some guy asked the pilot if he would go and stand by the nose wheel to show some scale. He then went and asked permission from a stern looking guy (possibly Special Forces) to go behind the secondary cordon line so the guy next to me could snap a shot!!!!!!!!
