26th March 2010 (Friday)

Post by np1991 » Wed Feb 24, 2010 4:41 pm

According to local newspaper The Forres Gazett there is to be a parade at Kinloss in a hangar with a flypast by a Nimrod in the afternoon, there is a limited number of tickets, but unfortunatly only people lucky enough to have worked on Nimrods are able to be given any :( . Haven't heard any updateds of the 31st, hopefully there's still a big days flying from Nimrods (31st that is). :thumb:

Currently showing as on the Ground - XW664 up from Waddington, presumably to do the fly-past.

The ceremony at Kinloss starts at 1pm, so the flypast will probably be around 2pm possibly 3pm :thumb:

Chaps

MR2 flypast at 1530 hrs Friday 26th March according to the events prog but don't shoot the messenger - they may change this due to the weather. Forecast is NE 3kts at the moment (actual) with a few clouds at 300' and broken at 1,400' with winds becoming variable in the afternoon mist :'(

It's going to be hit or miss whether we suffer drizzle, low cloud, mist or luck out and get just grey skies :) Lossie was adequate for photography at 08:30 but Elgin was misted in. Looking south at the moment I can't see the Brown Muir hill (600') and visibility is only a couple of miles.

Reading the local rag where an article quotes Sqn Ldr Roxburgh as flying the last planned flight next Wednesday (31st) but no timings given. If I hear anything I'll give you a shout.

Yes. It landed at Kinloss this morning but will be departing at around 13:30 local today. Flypast still scheduled for 15:30.
