I swore too, my dream is to see one of these take off. There was one at Farnborough many years ago that just sat there, the jolly Russian chap kept telling us it would fly that afternoon but it never did. If the F104 was an engine with a seat on the front, this it TWO HUGE engines with room for a passenger, fantastic.

Its a mirror system to give the backseater a forward view during takeoff and landing. The Backseater has emergency controls in case the pilot is incapacitated but his forward view is virtually nil. The mirror flips up on top of the canopy and reflects the image of the forward view down to another mirror that flips down in front of the radar operator. Simple, cheap and effective.
