Looks like just 3 C-130's on the deck and not a single KC-135 in any configuration at all, when was the last RIAT with no 135 presence? :pop:

Without wanting to jinx anything I am surprised by the lack of cancellations so far
About right with cancellations being about all you will get, as normal you tend to start getting the drop outs in the 2-3 weeks run up to the show.
Waddo as just started to see the cancellations start.

That is entirely up to you - and not us - to decide ;)

Not missed many shows over the past 28 years, but have decided to give this a miss, not having a pop at the RIAT as I said before they do a great job in difficult times, but monies tight and just not enough fast jet action or heavy metal to warrant the spend.

Hope all those that go have a great time, and the RIAT raise some decent funds, of course fingers crossed for good weather.. :thumb:

If you wouldn't get out of bed to see even just the Vulcan alone then you my friend are NOT an Inthusiast !

O dear............ It appears I'm not an Enthusiast either, Wonder what it is I've been doing the last 30 years??? :'(

Can some one inform Collins they have new to ammend the dictionary and add a line for Aviation Enthusiast

Aviation enthusiast: An Aviation enthusiast is a person who is very interested in the Vulcan, and who spends a lot of time on it, nothing else only the Vulcan. :P

What a great start to the day, made me realise you can't drink coffee and laugh at the same time......... I hope RIAT have a good update for the non-enthusiats today.

So when XH558 first flew a few years back and I was interested I'm guessing I was an 'Inthusiast' then but now as I couldn't really give two hoots about it and I'm looking forward to seeing the Connie and P38 does that make me an 'enthusiast' now? Sometimes I do wonder whether I am reading an aviation forum or the letters page in Viz! :P

Update started 27/06
The Air Tattoo is delighted that relations with the Japanese Air Self Defense Force remain strong with a senior JASDF commander attending as a guest at next month's airshow. Although they are unable to send an aircraft to RIAT 2013 few will forget their European debut at RIAT 2012 featuring a group of Taiko drummers and a Boeing KC-767J. We hope it won't be long before they touch down again; perhaps next time, they might even consider sending along a couple of F-15J Eagles to keep the KC-767 company . . .

It is what it is, if this was the 1980's it would be a pretty poor turn out but considering it is 2013, we have hardly any air force left, the Americans have pulled the plug completely on any air show attendance and the rest of the world are tied up in conflicts and recession, what is on the list is pretty impressive! I'm sure the organizers have done all they can to attract attendees and in the current climate that has got to be one hell of a difficult job! Big round of applause to the organizers for all their hard, if not fully appreciated, work in these difficult times!

Wouldn't say it's the best update ever, but I think you're over exaggerating a bit with that remark. Where else in Europe this year would you see a Canadian CC-130, and the BAe flying test bed is a good addition too in my eyes

They're in Stuttgart quite a bit, I believe. Lajes and/or Malta, too.

Hope I haven't offended you with this post.
