The posters near the exit of this years show gave the date as 5th and 6th July 2014

We were talking with some Police on Saturday and they were under the impression there wouldn't be a show next year. Runway renewal has been mentioned previously. Looks likely there will be a show if they were giving dates out.

To be fair, based on their traffic management this year, I'm not sure they knew there was one this year until Thursday morning!

After the show on Sunday, Airshow FM were asking one of organisers when they started planning for the next show, to which he replied: "planning was well under way for the 2014 Waddington Airshow"

Chris,

I travelled to Waddington and back each day Thursday through Monday, the only day we had problems was Saturday morning. It's not the Lincs Police's traffic management that is the problem. It's our Yellow Belly (Lincolnshire) roads. Despite the best efforts of everyone at the A15 (Sleaford Road) entrance, the queue of traffic ended up single file after leaving the ticket booths and just ground to a halt.

Damn irresponsible people building an operational airfield and giving no thought to a robust, supporting road network for an air show period...
Critically observing Pension regulatory activity... :D

Do you think Waddington will try to get some RIAT participants then?

Dates will be very interesting, as Legends/Yeovilton usually share the weekend before RIAT - are we in for a fixture pile up?!

If Exercise Indra Dhanush taking place in 2014, it might be a case of RIAT wanting some participants that Waddington might have

Yeovilton will publish a date for their 2014 show around august. It will not be the same date as RIAT or Waddington.

According to the TFC website Legends clashes with RIAT next year (12th and 13th July 2014) :(

RIAT publish their intended dates years in advance, so theres no real need for airshows to clash, other than its their tradional dates - shouldnt be a reason why others cant move?

I've always wondered this. Why does the majority of the airshow "season" have to be three weekends in July? Why not spread it out across June, July and August?

RIAT is not the only one to work out their dates well in advance Waddington does too and I would imagine most of them do them same, that way they can make sure all the support businesses know where they stand and when their services will be required.

I suppose there's 2 ways of looking when they are held. If RIAT was in August for example would the Black Eagles have stuck around to display then? - I doubt it. I suppose the advantage of having them held together is you stand a better chance of getting something from further away if they can do 3 - big shows in a smaller amount of time.

Just my thoughts.

Shame that only Waddington dug deep enough to secure the Viggen, Tunnan and Saab105 - costs could have been reduced on that front had all 3 'stuck together'.
