Re: Late visitor?
Much obliged for the reply Pete, indeed a mystery sir. I'm intrigued to learn the identity of the cab in question and hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

Re: Late visitor?
It wasn't a Merlin and was definitely fixed wing, judging from the sound I'd say a multiple prop type.I only caught it by chance because I was outside with the dogs at the time, certainly an uncharacteristic time for CU to have movements other than SAR.Buz41 wrote:Aircraft with 2 white strobe lights was seen to overshoot or depart CU last evening. It banked left (over Breage) as if it was doing a circuit. Two minutes later it reappeared again banking left returning towards CU. it did not appear again. Too dark to see if it was rotary or fixed wing.
A Merlin had been flying during the day, were they getting some air test time in a weather window?
Appreciate the responses gents,many thanks.

This might?? Be a possibility for what was seen?
And looking at the date, was almost exactly 2 years ago?!
Could it have had anything to do with the PM visiting the south west today??

Re: Late visitor?
I wonder if it could have been King Air G-FPLD of Teesside based Flight Inspection of Cobham doing ILS calibration work ?
They usually fly at night or weekends and were down south last week so a possibility ?

I wouldn't have thought that the flight checker would have been working that late on a Sunday evening. And certainly not at culdrose!!David Thompson wrote:I wonder if it could have been King Air G-FPLD of Teesside based Flight Inspection of Cobham doing ILS calibration work ?

It worked culdrose end of January. So can't see it coming back again so soon. And especially not on a weekend?!!and after dark!!

They fly at night and weekends , they have to to fit in with both civillian and military operational airfields . They calibrate LHR on Christmas Day !I wouldn't have thought that the flight checker would have been working that late on a Sunday evening. And certainly not at culdrose!!

Re: Late visitor?
Sorry, i meant to post this yesterday, totally forgot. G-FPLD is the answer. It was in and out much of last week, in a taxi-like role, rather than calibrating. I noted it parked up at CU at around 10:30 Sunday morning.
Re: Late visitor?
Well there you are then.. sorry David..I was wrong and you were right!!
It was only the bleeding flight checker!!! Nothing more than a dirty civi!
Atleast back in the day of the Andover(and Varsity before that!) It was a mil type to photograph!!
But it clears that one up.
