I had some time on my hands this morning. So i took a wander down for a look-see how the denizens of the fire-pits were after the recent rough weather.Besides various panels scattered far-and-wide [chiefly spoilers/ailerons off the poor ol' Canberra], they seemed to have coped remarkably well - Bless 'em!

Is that a complete compilation or are there anymore discarded treasures lurking about that area sir? Great snaps by the way and what remarkably fine weather for a change!

Thank you. They may at first make an upsetting sight, but after the initial 'shock' the cabs have an appeal, hard to explain but i like them in the condition that they are in.

'Tis the full compliment now, Sir. Quite so, what a lovely day!

I shall contact you, via PM, soon, with directions.

Harrier GR3 XZ969 - by the looks of it, this jet once had the full colourful tail markings of 4(AC) Sqn when based at RAF Gutersloh.

I have photographed the Dominie taxi-ing in at RAF Laarbruch in 97/98... it looked in a bit better condition then. ;-)

I know every airframe can't be saved, but very sad to see once proud aircraft looking like this now... :-(

Great pics though, recorded for prosperity. I remember the Sea Prince, Canberra U10 & Varsity at Predannack in the very early 80's, such a shame digital cameras weren't around then!

It certainly was in 1989 when I took this (WF125):

The S1 buccaneer in the back ground in your photo Pete was nothing more than a burnt out lump of alloy when we visited!

Lovely pics gents!

I remember the Sea Prince in 1989 ish when gliding from Predannack - it was looking in a bad way then! Such a shame.

I think the Varsity was flown in, but this is only what I have been told. The Bucc S2 XV359 I believe was flown in during 1993/94 but I have never seen any pictures of this event - would have been quite a catch too and surely the only jet to have ever landed at Predannack?

I did once have snaps of the Buccaneer landing at Predannack (not taken by me), but, like the majority of my snaps from this period, has long since been disposed of. I am still in possession of the arrestor hook off of the Buccaneer(XV359)which was given to me shortly after its arrival at Predannack.

I may be wrong, but i am sure the Canberra B(I)6 WT308 also landed at Predannack. Or did it land at CU, then subsequently roaded down?

If anyone has any more images from Predannack, please feel free to add.

There's no "go-round" in a glider.

Shame really, especially as the cafe and tours always seemed very popular.

I've just shown this to my wife. "We could move down there and run it," ,said she. I reminded her that we moved close to RAF Cottesmore and look what happened to that airfield! :(

Also, a June visit will now have a large hole in the programme. Still, there's always the warm rain to look forward to.
Please keep the news flowing, always good to hear what is going on :D :thumb:

Some glorious photos here, thanks for sharing them. Predannick has an atmosphere all its own, sad to see these iconic aircraft in some ways but always worth a look.

News of the closure of the Culdrose viewing Area café and bus tours is a real shame though I tended to think the café was usually overstaffed. Many enthusiasts from upcountry will be hoping to pay a visit to the viewing area and café and perhaps take the tour. Is it worth putting on another area of the forum to perhaps get a wider readsership ?

I forgot about these. No idea what they are, but these sail-planes were also thundering around the Predannack circuit on 9th March.
