Looked very impressive flying back over the airfield. There was another Merlin airborne at the time which had taken off a while prior to the 9. Also there was another started up when the rest did but only took off as some of the 9 returned. My assumption was that was a spare for press and other official photographers positioned on the airfield so that 9 would be in the flypast..
Good catch Malf that's something you don't get very often. The thing is are there any Merlin's left there flying? i'll be down the last week in June.Hopefully i'll get a few seaking shot's while they are still about.
regards Chris

Thanks very much, folks, glad you like the snaps! Quite impressive to see and hear nine in formation.
Perhaps also worth a mention is that shortly after the formation departed Falcon 20s G-FRAD and G-FRAJ made three or four approaches each.
The formation pictures are very impressive. I was at Culdrose on that morning and saw four Merlins in a group near the cafe, ZH855/856/857/864. I also noticed the photographers near them. We then went to Trebah and enroute saw maybe six more Merlins at the Helston end. At Trebah I saw the nine ship overhead, with the last three breakoff before reaching Falmouth. Later the same say I saw another three ship over Trebah. Do you have the serials of all nine?
Biffodog, thanks very much for supplying the serials. Very much appreciated as I prefer to identify what I see, especially when I see a formation. Made my penultimate Navy Merlin when I saw '864 that morning.
