Re: Miscellaneous Newark Air Museum News 2014
Don’t let the indifferent weather forecast for this Bank Holiday weekend and next week’s school half-term holiday put you off from getting an aviation-fix – there’s lots to see and do inside at NAM!
You could even grab some cover if you’re planning on visiting the AEC Rally on the Showground!!

Re: Miscellaneous Newark Air Museum News 2014
A bit of a long shot I know, but if anyone lives close to Newark and shops in the local Waitrose, could you please consider supporting the museum’s Project Panini campaign (construction of new café & education facility), which has been selected as one of their Community Matters projects for July 2014?
Details can be found in here!
Thanks in advance!

Re: Miscellaneous Newark Air Museum News 2014
The museum has been getting a few calls from grandparents / parents looking for somewhere to take children to during the teachers strike on Thursday – I can confirm that the museum is open as normal 10am until 5pm (last admission 4pm). Plus if the forecast rain comes through don’t forget there’s lot to see inside!

Over the last 48 hours the museum has encountered a couple of communication glitches, which are hopefully now behind us, so apologies if you have been affected.

Re: Miscellaneous Newark Air Museum News 2014
The museum has just been advised of some significant road works on the A1, which are due to start in August 26th and a few more details can be found in here – we are still seeking some additional clarification on this potential closure.
This may affect travel times for anyone using the A1 to get across to RAF Coningsby for visits to see the Canadian Lancaster and to events on the Showground.

Re: Miscellaneous Newark Air Museum News 2014
This weekend there is a big event on the Showground, which may see heavy traffic in the area during the arrival and departure times – plus there may be road marshals deployed on the approaches to the museum.
The museum is open as normal but there may be additional traffic to negotiate your way through to get there. We will endeavour to work with any external marshals to let them know that the museum visitors have full rights of access.
Please do not be put off by any event marshals who say that the museum is closed – this is not the case and just be politely persistent with them!

Re: Miscellaneous Newark Air Museum News 2014
A couple of fresh photographs have been added to albums in here – one shows some cockpit moves that were made yesterday in preparation for the impending arrival of the Dominie (date still t.b.a.); and the other shows a donate dTSR2 painting that will be auctioned at the event on 27th September 2014.

Re: Miscellaneous Newark Air Museum News 2014
I called in at the museum this morning to drop off the member’s newsletters and I thought that a quick update on a fairly fluid situation at the museum might be appropriate.
Various aircraft / cockpit moves are taking place to get ready for the TSR2 event and the Dominie arrival.
Yesterday the Jaguar T2A was moved back from the Southfield Site into the hard-standing in front of the Canberra T19 and Shackleton.
Currently the Gnat is outside, while preparations are made to move the Gannet AEW3 out of Hangar 2; this could be a temporary situation for the Gnat (further updates will follow if the situation changes.
This means that there should soon be a naval line up with the Buccaneer, Sea Vixen and Gannet on the Southfield Site!

Re: Miscellaneous Newark Air Museum News 2014
As I mentioned before, aircraft moves can be a “fairly fluid situation” – the latest update is as follows:
The Gannet AEW3 is now outside in its new display position.
The Gnat has been moved back inside Hangar 2, as has the TSR2 cockpit. Preparations will now start on getting the TSR2 display set-up for Saturday 27th September.
Hot news from the shop the Corgi die-cast Avro Vulcan B2, XH558’s have arrived – further details in here!
