Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
Schedule has the Raptor at Fairford between 8-10th July. would that mean it will leave on the Sunday or is this purely the display dates. would have liked to see it depart on Monday but not so sure this will happen now. does anyone also know if it will be based at Fairford or will it be flying in from another base (Pres Mildenhall or Lakenheath).
Great news anyway and glad I've already got my tickets,

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
Update here for today including a bit more info - although nothing new that hasn't been discussed under this thread already.
http://www.airtattoo.com/airshow/visiti ... st-updatesLATEST UPDATE: 03/03/16
•The US Air Force has confirmed with us that it will be sending two F-35A Lightning II aircraft from the 56th Fighter Wing based at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. These will join two F-35B vertical take-off and landing aircraft from the US Marine Corps, whose participation was announced last month.
•The Spanish Air Force has confirmed that a Eurofighter EF2000 will participate in RIAT 2016. We are seeking confirmation on whether the aircraft will be in the flying display or in the static park.
•The Royal Air Force has confirmed that the Red Arrows aerobatic team, the solo Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4, the Beech King Air (making a welcome return to the circuit in 2016 after a three-year absence), and the Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will all participate in the RIAT 2016 flying display. Other RAF involvement is still in discussion

I wonder if that increased the chances of Farnborough seeing the F22?

1. Is it likely that the Heritage Flight will be based at Fairford during their stay?
2. Will it just be the F-35A and P-51 or will other aircraft be featured?

•The Air Tattoo's flying display programme was boosted further this week with news that the Swedish Air Force is sending its solo Saab JAS 39 Gripen to Fairford this summer. The aircraft, which last appeared at RIAT in 2014, is expected to come from F 7 Wing at Såtenäs.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
i thought the Gripen was one of the best displays in 2014. A welcome addition!!.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
Officially the air force only does the solo display when there is an airshow at Kecskemét...since there was none in 2014 and 2015, the HUNAF only sent the Gripen to static. In 2015 we sent no jet abroad even for static, the only exception was the Varazdin airshow with a demo, but the Gripen flew from Kecskemét. Last year we lost two Gripens and did the Baltic Air Policing.Scudpilot wrote:Link says undecided at this time, I guess they don't know themselves yet.luke28 wrote:Nice additions![]()
