Nice whereabouts are they parked? Outside hangars?Kads wrote:I was there 06:00 local time to 08:30 and they didn't leave during this period. Haven't seen anything to say they have left since then so I guess they are still there. Possibly tomorrow morning departure?

Re: U2
Has one just gone out? Seen something that looked very similar heading towards Brize but might well be mistaken.

Re: U2
So to confirm that's now 3 U-2s in Fairford?
Re: U2
Just seen a U2 on final approach to RWY 27 FFD missed all comms or reading off serial. Hopefully someone on fence can update?
Yes, currently 3 U2's on the deck at FFD.

Re: U2
Can anyone confirm the tail and callsign for this one please? First time I've ever seen one literally slip in without anyone picking up comms, everyone must be distracted by the B-52s!
Re: U2
Stated as Arrived at Fairford 13:08 80-1067 BB U-2 DRAGON88 on the book of face.
My personal log has this as coming through Fairford in April of this year.

I had it on 282.625 at 1116Z, 1117Z it was passed to 282.125 still above 600 and that was the last I heard. Couldn't post, sorry as I don't have computers at home.

Re: U2
As at 14:00L on Thursday 9 June you can clearly see three U-2s in the hangar from the 27 end (by walking down towards the EOR a bit) one of them is 80-1067 which returned with an avionics issue.
Any help with the other two serials would be appreciated

Re: U2
80-1067 departed this morning after the misty fog cleared, then ground equipment pushed back into the hangar. The other 2 aircraft were visible in the hangar.
I then left as it didn't look like there was going to be any further U-2 movements.

Hi Guy's
I followed 'Dragon 53' up to flight level 600 / 60'000ft when the pilot went silent for some time. At 10.01 this morning, London Mil had a request from 'Dragon 53' to return Fairford due to a Technical problem.
Apparently...the Auto-pilot system had failed...this was from another spotter.
