Exercise Cable Car was mentioned in one of the other Lossie threads which - as far as I can gather - is an MPA exercise running just before JW16-2. Not sure if any of the aircraft will be hanging around for JW too, but I'm sure someone more familiar with local operations and exercises will confirm.

When I first read this thread and saw the number of P.8s present I thought it was Lossie in training to see how they would get on when the RAF eventually take delivery of their P.8s.

Yesterday with the P-8s arriving on RW 23 they require to go full length of runway, backtrack all way back before turning off to their parking spot. We had one waiting (Pelican 04) to get away with an incoming extending their approach before landing.
Sure they will have it all sorted when the RAF aircraft arrive in the not to distant future :)

As far as I am aware there are different squadrons allocated for JW. So expect a change of airframes.

7 hour plus sorties and 5 x MPA's with approx. 1 hour crossover - that doesn't make for 'plenty' of flying if the past exercises are anything to go by. There's always the French 6 hour work up to shut down to look forward to though :Wow:

Thanks for the replies. I took time off work for JW arrivals next week, and was wondering what was going on. At least Walter will get some MPA, as he's up there this week.

I was thinking more along the lines of there being plenty of visitors between the MPA arrivals and sorties, then JW arrivals and sorties and whatever locals are up and about, rather than just this batch alone.

The French (lack of) activity will be a highlight again, if their last visit is anything to go by...
