If they are using the other runway it's better for photography/seeing the aircraft plus any visiting aircraft tend to be parked up that end.

haha, no problem.

In answer to your revised question - i don't know. Isn't the VAHS at the other end? (visiting aircraft handling section) Or maybe they just don't want too many prying eyes on anything that comes to waddington?

The last couple of shows at Waddington have found me leaving from that end , and there are always some of the visitors parked up down there refuling as I think that's where a fuel dump is. I may be wrong though

The fuel bowsers are 'bulked up' and can be dispatched anywhere on station. They do tend to operate from a central point for coordination and control reasons. At Waddington, this is termed 'Airfield Support Mechanical Transport (ASMT).
Traditionally, a visiting aircraft will be placed at VAHS (RW02 end) as they have the facilities to accomodate the needs of crews etc. VAHS is a dedicated point for visitors, having both the flexibility of its trained personnel, without the need to draw from other station work areas. It operates a 24/7 capability when required.
The size of the aircraft is also considered when deciding where it will go, as larger aircraft often need more fuel, hence a greater 'all up weight'. Not all areas of the station can accomodate a large aircraft with a heavy all up weight (hardstanding areas and pan loading). A number of the hard standing pans which can accommodate this fuel uplift are those which fall within the VAHS domain. Alongside Sentry dispersal, the VAHS operating areas offer a large footpring to work on, this aids mobility, turning circles and better placement for crews unfamiliar with Waddington Ops. A further benefit to VAHS position is that it is away from the Stn aircraft operating side (Sentry, Sentinel & Nimrod) and does not impact too much on operations.
Hope that helps.
