Update 07/03
Adding to our list of aerobatic display teams already confirmed for the Air Tattoo, we are delighted to confirm the Breitling Wingwalkers and the Royal Jordanian Falcons will be gracing the skies of Fairford this year.

Also confirmed this week is Europe's only airworthy 'Super Connie' - the Breitling Super Constellation - appearing on static in July.
Shame the Super Connie is static only :( Hopefully that may change by July

That will depend on Breitling, not the Air Tattoo.

If it flies, I would imagine it'll be for one day only, straight from its base and straight back again, no stopping - I'm not sure they can spare the airframe hours and cycles to have it land, display and land again for two days.

While the engineering challenges are certainly large with the Super Connie, I'm not sure airframe hours and cycles are the issue. In countries which permit Pleasure flights on the Constellation, it makes regular flights during an event with paying passengers which helps offset the costs of transit flights to and from their home.

The Super Constellation Flyers gave a very enjoyable presentation at the European AIrshow Council Convention on what they do and the risks involved. As part of the support Breitling gives them, they are obliged to participate at some events for Breitling. In 2013, RIAT is one of those events.

They also do display the aircraft, though it is usually just circuits and flypasts in various configuartions. If you go to the Sanicole Airshow later in the year you will see it in the air. :P

Update 14/03

Royal Norwegian Air Force
Dassault Falcon 20 717 Squadron Transport (Static)

A member of the Air Tattoo's air operations department had a very positive meeting at the Embassy of Qatar this week about the possibility of the Arab state sending aircraft to the airshow in July. They had plenty to talk about as our representative lived and worked in Doha, Qatar's capital, some years ago. The Qataris said that their visit to the Air Tattoo last year was very enjoyable and that they hoped to be able to send an aircraft from the Qatar Emiri Air Force in July.

RIAT Update 6 December 20112

The Polish Air Force has confirmed that it will be taking part in RIAT 2013. However, at this stage it is unable to indicate which aircraft it plans to send and whether it/they will be in the flying display or in the static park. Further information is expected in March.

Regards

Dunk
