I had a nice leisurely drive from Lancashire arriving at Shawbury at 07.30am the roads were deserted and I parked at the prime spot next to the landing lights, Martin and Jennie had already arrived.
We were soon joined by some of the locals and a lot of interesting banter ensued, I'm use to seeing Typhoon reheat
takeoffs but its the first time I have been actually underneath when the typhoon has pulled up into the vertical with the EJ 200s at full throttle.
The Red Arrows were spectacular when they flew in, it was in a ten man formation with a couple of nice passes
which enabled some of us to get super wide angle lens shots. On returning from The Cosford Airshow the Reds flew a couple of tight 9 nine arrow formations which finished with a nine ship bomb burst over the airfield with each jet
trailing white smoke.
If you think about the lack of aircraft at Shawbury you could look at it in another way, we actually saw 20 hawk movements + 4 Typhoons the 20 hawks include red ten which arrived earlier as a singleton.
