@VirtualAstro Starting to wonder about high-altitude military supersonic plane (stealthed?) zipping down the country.

@VirtualAstro Thought it was fireworks in Croydon too, but sounded more like a bombing campaign. #itstherussians

Re: Loud 'Bangs' over the UK
Yes I've heard them, and very heavy rumbling now too, I'm pretty near Stansted, nothing showing on Planefinder but sounded like an MD-11 but a more heavy sound, not an AN124 though!
Re: Loud 'Bangs' over the UK
Nope not true, FR24 still showing airliners all over the UK.Skip wrote:twitter wrote:@VirtualAstro hearing reports that uk air traffic grounded ? Any truth?
Re: Loud 'Bangs' over the UK
Heard a few loud bangs in the Brize area about half five tonight but thought nothing more of it than big fireworks being let off?
Re: Loud 'Bangs' over the UK
Yeah mine was showing that too, but it does sound strange, has anyone else heard then then? what time did you hear them Nigel?BrizeWatcher wrote:Nope not true, FR24 still showing airliners all over the UK.Skip wrote:twitter wrote:@VirtualAstro hearing reports that uk air traffic grounded ? Re: Loud 'Bangs' over the UK
Apparently there was a loud bang/explosion near Marne barracks early Saturday morning?
Re: Loud 'Bangs' over the UK
There was a fireworks display going on at my local park so didn't here them.
Re: Loud 'Bangs' over the UK
Yeah there were reports of an explosion in the early hours at Marne/Catterick. Slip roads off the A1 closed as a precaution for most of the day.

Re: Loud 'Bangs' over the UK
Was thinking that it could be an earthquake but they don't come from the air and it would be impossible to be heard throughout the whole country.Len123 wrote:Yeah there were reports of an explosion in the early hours at Marne/Catterick. Re: Loud 'Bangs' over the UK
Sounds very much like some type of earthquake, seems these booms have been reported over a lot of the UK.
no reports of any QRA, meteor shower maybe?. very strange what ever it is.

Don't panic, seems we have the answer now
